What is a trust remainderman and what rights do they have?
Certain types of trust name a future beneficiary or remainderman, but only after the current beneficiary ceases to receive assets or funds from the trust. At least annually, the reminderman has the right to receive a report or accounting from the trustee which details the assets and liabilities of the trust, all receipts and disbursements, including the amount of the trustee's compensation, and a list of trust assets with their respective market values as of the date of the statement. The trustee should also provide the remainder beneficiary of the trust a copy of the trust document.
